A number of our programmes directly address this issue. At the heart of poverty is the inability of individuals and communities to adequately support themselves:
1. Micro financing and Enterprise Development. We can build and support a fund for ethical investment in well targeted community/individual enterprises. We need to provide addequate training and support throughout the development of selected businesses and we have to ensure than 'fair trade' concerns including impacts on the environment and adequately accommodated.
2. Food supply. We can provide seed stock and live stock as required (relatively inexpensively) and provide capital resources to construct buildings and buy equipment to grow, store, process and distribute as required.
3. Education. We can fund education for children and we can train adults in relevant skills.
4. Health and nutrition. We can support medical facilities and we can conduct nutritional research to establish key nutritional needs.
