Manatee

Manatee and dugongs are currently endangered globally, with 30% of the deaths being due to unsustainable human activities. If we don't stop polluting and destroying their coastal and riverine habitats, these animals will be lost.

The AWF project:
Sierra Leone:
The AWF Reacteam will be in Sierra Leone in December 2011 to report on the manatee reported in the mangrove swamps behind Sherbro Island. The AWF have created a research base in Mendi Town with a view to establish a long-term project.
